My name is Elizabeth Leon Garcia, and I serve as the Project Coordinator for EMBARC (Educational Modules to Broaden Academic Research Cultures) housed at the CSUN Health Equity Research and Education (HERE) Center. We are a program grounded in Community Cultural Wealth (CCW) which emphasizes the importance of students’ cultural strengths as they navigate STEMM fields.
While EMBARC emphasizes students in STEMM disciplines, we embrace a broad understanding of STEMM. EMBARC supports students across a wide range of STEMM and related majors, including fields that address health, equity, and community well-being. Example majors are listed in an attached flyer, but all students interested in research are welcome.
This year, EMBARC is partnering with the CSUN Transfer Success Pathway (TSP) Program to bring students the Basic Needs Grant, which provides:
-
Basic needs funding for eligible students (a one-time grant of $250).
-
Workshops and opportunities to explore and engage with research, especially related to health equity.
We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing the attached EMBARC x TSP Basic Needs Grant Application flyer with your students and your campus community at Santa Monica College.
Students can access the application for our Basic Needs Grant through our flyer or the link I have pasted here for reference: http://bit.ly/EMBARC-TSP-BasicNeedsGrant
