Hi Everyone!

I am hosting my 2nd speaker, Laura Hackett, during my class from 12:30-1:30pm this upcoming Wednesday on 10/1. They will be discussing to the class on Zoom that day and I wanted to extend this opportunity to your students via Zoom. Laura will be primarily discussing her experience as an advisor for engineering students at UC Davis and recommendations she has for students to succeed. Here is a brief description he has provided below!

  • Laura Anderson Hackett has a deep passion for education, and helping those she interacts with achieve their educational goals. For five years, she worked as an academic advisor for the UC Davis College of Engineering’s Leadership in Engineering Advancement, Diversity and Retention (LEADR) Program. There, she focused on supporting first-generation, low-income, underserved minority and/or transfer students throughout their time at UC Davis. Prior to that, she spent time at Fresno State’s Learning Center/SupportNet teaching study skills and creating academic support plans. Presently, she spends time as an editor for her family appraisal business, Hackett Appraisal, and volunteering at her daughters’ school and in the local community. Laura received a B.S. in Biology and Society, education minor from Cornell University and a M.S. in Counseling, Student Affairs and College Counseling from Fresno State.
