Information to students regarding SMC Scholarship Application deadline

The SMC Foundation has asked for our help to encourage students to submit an application to the SMC Foundation scholarship pool.  There are over 250 potential scholarship ranging in award amounts from $500 to $50,000!

 

There are several specifically intended for Physical Sciences students including:

 

  • Professor Miguel A. Aparicio Endowed Scholarship, $5,000, Chemistry, continuing only
  • Shirley & Frank Kline Award in Chemistry or Biochemistry, $1000, Chemistry or Biochemistry, continuing or transfer
  • James E. Murphy Memorial Scholarship, $1000, Chemistry (with consideration for Chemistry Club participation)
  • Frieda & Frank Weilding Memorial Scholarship, $1000, Engineering, continuing or transfer
  • Wade C. Driscoll Engineering Scholarship, $1000, Engineering, continuing or transfer
  • Merle Arnold Physical Science Scholarship, $500, Physical or Biological Sciences, transfer only
  • J. Stanley Brode Memorial Scholarship, $500, Physical or Biological Sciences, continuing or transfer
  • F. Donald Miller Memorial Scholarship, $500, Math, Physics, or Astronomy, continuing or transfer

 

Finally, out of the same pool, students will be identified for the Sharer Scholars program: Sharer Scholars – SMC Foundation  Eligible majors include engineering, science, business, economics, commerce and education.

 

The application deadline is Dec 31.  It is quite simple for students to apply.  They will also host a workshop on Dec 15, more information below.

Good Morning Academic Department Leadership:

 

Hope everyone is doing well!  I know you all are extremely busy as the semester is coming to a close!  However, I can use your help!  We are communicating directly to students but wanted to also reach out to you to assist as well!

 

I wanted to ask your assistance with outreaching to your faculty to pass along to students in your various courses to encourage them to submit their scholarship application for the 2026-2027 SMC Foundation Scholarships.  The deadline is quickly approaching, and we really need to get our application submissions up to have a viable pool of students to evaluate for our scholarships.  Please see information below. Thank you in advance and I really appreciate your help!   I am also delivering Scholarship Rack cards to your areas via intercampus mail.  If you’re on the main campus, I’m happy to have the scholarship rack cards delivered to you today!  Just need your office location! 😊

The 2026-2027 SMC Foundation Scholarship Application for Current Students is now open!

1 application = 250+ potential scholarships

Scholarship awards ranging from $500 to $50,000

Current SMC students who meet the minimum academic criteria can apply for the SMC Foundation Scholarship Application online right now!

The SMC Scholarship Office will be offering three open application lab sessions. Prospective applicants can use the lab time to work on their scholarship applications. Reminder that the deadline to submit is December 31, 2025. If you have questions or need help, you can’t afford to miss this last Webinar session!

 

Here’s what you need to know

The minimum academic criteria are as follows:

  • Declare a major and have an educational goal in Corsair Connect
  • Minimum SMC GPA of 2.5 by the scholarship application deadline
  • Complete at least six (6) SMC units by December 31, 2025
  • Enroll in at lease six (6) SMC units for the Fall 2025 term
  • Plan to enroll in at least six (6) SMC units for Spring 2026
  • Must be in good standing with the SMC Code of Conduct Administrative Regulation AR4410 and AR4411
  • Applicants CANNOT already have a Bachelor’s degree

Additionally:

  • Applications must be submitted through Corsair Connect
  • You can only submit one application (no edits or changes)
  • Only eligible candidates will be considered
  • It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you thoroughly review How to Apply for Scholarships

Last Day to Apply: December 31, 2025

How to apply on Corsair Connect

  • Navigate to the Financial Aid page
    • Scroll down to “Types of Aid”
    • Under “Scholarships,” currently enrolled fall students will see “Scholarship Online Application“

Important application information

  • Review the Minimum Qualifications
    • (blue tab on the application)
  • Review all questions in advance, including the statement requirements
  • When ready, complete application in one sitting
    • the application CANNOT be saved
  • You can ONLY SUBMIT ONCE
    • once submitted you will NOT be able to edit or make changes
